The book captures the returning journey of The Last Kingdom Uhtred, a Saxon prince raised in the Danish camp, to Bebbenburg, his birth right. Banished from Wessex after killing a Sorbon text | dependant of the Viking-raised Uhtred who has a Norman blood but when fighting – he must rely on two gods of his fostering father. In the divided and defeated kingdom there is only a glimmer of light that everyone wants to follow – King Alfred of Wessex, and he notices in Uhtred abilities he needs at his court.

Together, they form a rather shaky alliance in order to fight the constantly advancing Danish forces. Hearths break, people bleed, and strategies are displayed throughout with Uhtred struggling for a single country that is England, even as he himself battles within, torn between two worlds- Shired and Danes. As Wessex is built up to be a symbol of Saxon rebellion against the Danes, Uhtred has to make the best of his birth land with the country that took him in and raise the question as to whom England belongs to.

For as long as the vikings of Norheim have set their foot on the road that leads to the west they have been rich and powerful, but their power and riches are almost always overshadowed by battles for power and plots, die and jealousy.

In the ruled by Vikings political struggles, social relations and changes, technological discoveries which turn the lives of the inhabitants of an 8th-century Viking village.

It shares themes, locations, and a timeline with Vikings: Valhalla, making it another epic watch.
